Policies for Use of the Libraries by Alumnae and NeighborsContents:
General UseAlumnae and neighbors are welcome to use the books, magazines and reference resources of the College of St. Catherine Libraries. As the college is a privately funded institution, access to the services that the library and its staff provide may be limited. Users may also wish to keep in mind that Library collections reflect the college's curriculum, and as such may not contain materials they would expect to find in a public library. Book CheckoutGeneral policies:Books may be checked out by the following individuals: According to CLIC consortium rules, special privilege and alumnae cards are good only at CSC libraries, and are not valid at other CLIC libraries. Reference ServiceReference Librarians will assist alumnae and neighbors with their questions and research needs. However, our first priorities are the needs of CSC students, staff, faculty, the Sisters of St. Joseph (CSJ) and Seniors auditing our classes. Lengthy searches or consultations with neighbors or alumnae may not be possible.Electronic ResourcesElectronic resources that are not restricted by licensing agreement may be used by neighbors and alumnae on the premises; database licenses do not allow us to extend off-campus, remote access. Restricted databases, including FirstSearch, may be used only by CSC students, staff, faculty, CSJ and Seniors auditing our classes.Reference Librarians will assist a neighbor or alumnae patron with the use of electronic resources as time permits. Priority for use of computer workstations, the World Wide Web and online resources is given to CSC students, staff, faculty, CSJ and Seniors auditing our classes. Interlibrary loan and document deliveryILL services are not extended to neighbors, alumnae or Seniors auditing classes. We recommend that you contact your public library for these services.CopiersPublic copiers are available in the libraries for print and microform (St. Paul campus only) materials. Public copy machines charge ten cents per page. Copiers will make change for coins, $1 or $5 bills. The library does not provide copying service for patrons. There are no color copiers in the libraries.Microform machines are located on the north end of the St. Paul Campus library. Fax service is not available in the St. Paul Campus Library. There is a fax machine in the campus Post Office (open Monday-Friday, 8:00-3:30). The closest service may be Kinko's on Snelling and Grand Aves. Friends of the LibraryThe St. Catherine Libraries invites you to become a Friend! Members actively support the libraries through donations and participation in library and campus events. For information and an application, brochures are available at the Circulation Desk or on the Friends of the Libraries Webpage. For more information
